Climate Action Net Art Exhibit
Reversing Falls Sanctuary is hosting an art exhibit on the weekends of June 18/19 and June 25/26, from 12 - 4:00 PM. Twenty-two paintings created by 8th grade Deer Isle Stonington Students and two sculptures will be on display. The theme of the artwork is awakening to a world of climate instability. In preparation for their paintings, students have researched climate information, chosen a particular aspect of the issue and written a personal response. Whether the final climate topic is loss of biodiversity, CO2 reduction, reducing pollution, extinction, etc., the paintings reflect the students' hope, anger and humor as they plead for us to wake up and take action for our Earth.
The artwork is created with great care under the tutelage of Cynthia Pease, DIS Art Teacher. The frames for the paintings have been fabricated from plastic water bottles with the assistance of the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. These paintings can be viewed at www.climateactionnet.org which is a sponsor of this project.
Masks and distancing are required.
