Winter Solstice Celebration
Here we are at the Winter Solstice 2018 which once again marks the birth of a new era, the transition from autumn to winter. In Maine, we are particularly conscious of the Winter Solstice as the darkest( or shortest) day of the year and and the longest night.Let us come together to celebrate the emerging light.
the stillness of winter, the cycles of our planet and the rituals of our ancestors as we celebrate Earth, Fire, Water and Air. Please join us as we gather at the Sanctuary, walk to the Bagaduce River with luminarias for a fire and ceremony.
Friday, December 21,2018 (snow date, Saturday, December 22,2018) at 4:00pm.
We will gather st RFS in Brooksville to ground ourselves in the rootedness of this special time. We will then walk with luminarias to the public landing near the Bagaduce River bridge where we will burn our burdens in the fire and then offer our intentions to ourselves, each other and our world by lighting incense and float them down the river.
WHAT TO PREPARE:
BRING a list or physical symbol of what you would like to leave behind in the darkness. What burdens, regrets, griefs or wounds that you carry individually or we carry collectively would you like to see transformed. We will place these "burden bundles" in a bonfire at the River's edge. Your offering to the fire can be a simple written list, photos, or symbols in a sealed envelope or you might create an object or bundle to symbolize your offering.
REFLECT on the intentions or desires that you wish to manifest in the world. What would you like to bring into the new season and into the expanding light. How will we individually and collectively replace the old stories so that we may bring energy and creativity for new stories and opportunities to emerge?
Please bring music and noisemakers to awaken the river spirits.
